Fight Oily Hair and Dandruff With Essential Oils

Finding hair care products that work can be frustrating. One of the number one issues individuals have is oily hair and this seems to be especially true for those who have beautiful naturally thick hair. To compound the problem of thick hair, products are difficult to rinse out and build up occurs which is often mistakenly confused with dandruff. You may indeed have flakes but often this is due to a build up of products at the base of the hair shaft and on the scalp.

There are alternatives which are simple to use to can help combat oily hair with out the build out. Essential oils provide a vast number of benefits including a number of applications for hair health and can be extremely helpful for a quick fix when it comes to oily locks.

1. Mix two or three drops of atlas cedar essential oil with a small amount of light fragrance free conditioner. After massaging the mixture into the scalp, leave on for approximately five minutes and rinse thoroughly. This application will also work for dandruff.

2. Lemon essential oil is another essential oil that not only smells great but can be used to battle oily hair. Simply add two or three drops to your favorite fragrance free shampoo and proceed as usual.

3. Patchouli essential oil can be used for both oily hair and dandruff. For oily hair apply the mixture of 2 or 3 drops into a fragrance shampoo and for dandruff with 2 or 3 drops to a fragrance free conditioner. For the conditioner application again massage into scalp and let it sit for five minutes before you rinse it out.

4. Rosemary is most recognized for the wonderful flavor it adds to cooking in the form of a herb however it also widely used essential oil. The application for rosemary essential oil is the same as patchouli essential oil and again it can be used for both dandruff and oily hair.
